dresses to impress: closet edition.

1. Dress by BCBGeneration. Shoes by Aerosoles. This is a dress I wasn't initially super crazy about but it really grew on me. I'm obsessed with open backs and I really like the subtle floral pattern & sheer sleeves. Also pockets are always a plus in dresses as far as I'm concerned.

 2. Dress via Target. Belt via Anthropologie. This dress is a few years old. I got it on the clearance rack for about ten dollars and feel like maybe the ruffle is a bit annoying for layering but the tulle skirt and easy-to-match nude color makes it worth every penny.
 3. Dress: gap. Denim belt: from other dress.  This dress is a few years old also. It's just kind of your standard summer dress with a cute X-back making it a bit more fun.
 4. Dress via Daffy's. Shoes by Topshop. You may have seen this dress already. it's my 'birthday dress' that I bought back in October and I just love it. And only one person ever caught on that I prefer to wear it backwards...
 5. Dress by BCBGeneration. This dress is pretty new. It was a nice little addition to my LBD collection. It's just super simple to throw on and dress up or down & I always feel hot wearing an LBD. Even on bloated and blah days.
 6. Dress by BCBGeneration. I wanted this dress for months and months and watched it until it went on sale (like a hawk). I know the back is super duper low so usually I wear a black tank top under it. I love the front cut out details too and it's a bit hard to tell fro mthe photos but it's a pretty petal print on black kind of fabric. So cute.
 7. Dress by Jessica Simpson. I noticed that Jessica Simpson's dresses seem to recycle a lot of the same shapes. When I saw her line for this season, I noticed this same dress I bought a couple of years ago in different colors and it made me happy that I held onto it. I know the orange is pretty bright but it's a fun day dress or date dress (with heels, of course).
 8. Dress via Lord & Taylor. I don't usually shop for cocktail or fancy dresses unless I have a party to go to but when I noticed this beautiful nude & blue lace dress calling my name from the clearance racks, I had to give it a go. It fit like a dream and at thirty dollars, I just couldn't say no. I just think it's the picture of elegance and wore it to a show in the city a couple of months ago and look forward to bringing it out more often.
 9. Dress by Isaac Mizrahi for Target. I absolutely love this dress. I got it a little over a year ago for my college graduation and I haven't worn it much since but I still adore it. I remember reading in one novel that every girl should have a fun yellow dress. Well this is mine!
10. Dress by Lucca Couture. Shoes by Enzo Agilioni. I love polka dots. No secret there. This dress is probably the most little girl cute dresses I have. I remember when I bought it my mom said 'Isn't that a bit short?' but when I pair it with little ballet flats and a cardigan, I feel nothing short of dainty.

11. Dress by Ark. Like my bow-bun? I had to try it at least once. This dress is a new addition. I really liked the southwestern print and the open back (duh). I had been eying it up for months until it went on sale. I thought from the beginning it would be perfect for July 4th and that's the plan. It is a great little summer dress though and has potential for dressy or casual.
12. Dress by Free People. This is the last of the dresses I allowed myself to buy this season. Yes, I'm broke again. Due to many things including my habit of shopping the sales racks and clearance bins (all those twenty-thirty dollar purchase add up eventually) and also my loss of my favorite glasses, and also my much anticipated trip to teach abroad in August (shit is expensive).  In any case. This is my first attempt to rock the mullet hemline and I'm digging it. How lovely is this dress? I saw it first many months ago, sold out of my size and when I saw it again a couple of weeks ago at Fox's, I knew it was meant to be.

So that's your little peek into my closet in between packing and to stand as a reason for me not buy anymore dresses.
xx
